Can anyone tell me if there are rules and regulations to when and how you can change fee schedules? What are the "red flags" to this with payers? I recently took over a client with my billing company about 3 months ago and we are still trying to get the fee schedule correct- to the way the client wants it, in accordance with how the old billing company had it. So is there a rule of thumb to go by when doing fee schedules, this is my weak area when it comes to billing and coding.

be sure and check the contracts that your client has with the different payors. Some contracts have verbage that states you have to give them like 90 days written notice of fee changes.
