For those of you who haven't seen the announcement, United Healthcare is implementing a Diagnosis Code Requirement Policy effective 5/1/2024.

The following 3 existing policies will be retired effective 5/1/2024, because the content will be addressed in the new comprehensive policy:
  • Inpatient Unacceptable Principal Diagnosis, Facility
  • Outpatient Hospital Inappropriate Primary Diagnosis Code Policy, Facility
  • Inappropriate Primary Diagnosis Codes Policy, Professional

This new policy will also address Excludes 1 coding.
