I am trying to bill out a diabetes management "class" that our provider does once a month for patients that are newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes. She spends about 2 hours with all of the patients at one time and also takes time to document each individual HPI, ROS, Exam & Assesment.

How do I bill these out?

If anyone can provide me with documentation on this that would be amazing!!!

Billing and payment will depend on the carriers involved. Some will not pay for group settings and will only allow individual, or vice versa. It can be a little confusing, so your best bet is to check your contracts.

Most carriers will refer to this as DSMT (Diabetes Self-Management Training). HCPCS G0108 and G0109 are designed for individual and group sessions. If your provider is also doing a face-to-face private exam then the E&M can be billed as well.

Using the DSMT terminology will help you to communicate what your provider is doing as well as clarify what benefits are available to your patients.
