If you have a physician who owns their own equipment and is using it at the hospital during a surgery that another physician is performing, but then is billing the interpretation at his office, would you bill a global with the POS being the office? He is being denied with the global fee being billed as POS hospital for not using appropriate modifiers. Do you have any suggestions?

Questions

I don't think I am understanding the situation!

What kind of equipment is it and what is the CPT code you were trying to bill?

Thanks,

Try changing POS to 11 since the provider is doing the interpretation in the office. We had the same issue with our Holter's - we own the equipment, put it on in the hospital outpt. The provider then does the interpretation in the office, POS 11 and we are receiving payments.
