Our Internal Medicine offices sometimes perform fingerstick glucose tests (with test strips) on diabetics. They have been coding it as 82962 and it is being denied by Medicare (Massachuetts). My Ingenix procedure book states for use at home OR in a physician's office. Any comments?
Thanks. :(

You know, I am going to check with my billers right now.
(I don't see the claims, so I'm actually not sure!)
That may be our key! Thank you so much!

Our CLIA number is NOT on our electronic claims. From what I've read on the Medicare website, the "QW" modifier is not needed. Should we NOT use the QW, but add the CLIA number?

Thanks again!

Glucose 82962 vs 82947?

Per The AMA and Ingenix CPT books 82962 says it is specifically for home use which we are also coding and every ins co is denying. If done in the office isnt 82947 a more appropriate code with QW modifier per Medicare LCD?
