Does anyone know what diagnosis codes I should use for the following:

1. Vaginal burning

2. Abnormal vaginal discharge

Diagnosis: Possible trichomonas (I don't think that I can code this because the dx is not definite, so I am just coding the symptoms).

Also, should I use a 99281 or 99282 E/M for this visit (pt seen with complaints of vaginal burning and abnormal discharge)?

you are absolutley correct about coding the symptoms
vaginal discharge 623.5
vaginal burning 623.9 ( looked under irritation vaginal)
for the E&M question.. unfortunatly i cannot answer without documentation. iif the pt is seen in the ER then the codes would be (99281-99285) if the pt not seen in the er or inpatient setting the codes would be (99201-99215 code range)
