Needing to find some resources for Behavioral Health/Mental Health Coding. Employer is thinking that some codes are interchangeable like ones listed above but not really finding documentation to support these. Wanting to find help or resources when these types of questions come up. We provide outpatient Mental Health Services as well as Residential Services all through Oregon. Any thoughts, links, resources or direction is greatly appreciated.

For us in the Arizona, it depends on the Provider Type. Level 2 codes ( H codes) are used to bill as an outpatient bh clinic and ALL direct care staff (BHP, BHT) who are not independently licensed must use these codes to bill under the facility NPI as opposed to the CPT codes that the independently (doctors, LPCs, etc.) BHP's. Hope this makes sense!
