Wiki HCC mapping effective dates

Hi all,

Can anyone help me to understand the HCC category effective date. Is the effective date is same for Both HCC category value and ICD code effective dates are same i.e. every year Oct 1. or is there any different effective date for HCC codes (Jan 1 or something else.) ?

Because there in CMS mapping we can see 2 year formats.
1. FY 2023-FY 2024
2. PY 2023

For Ex: H34.8192 is a new HCC code in V28 model in 2024 mapping table, but where it is not a HCC code in 2023 mapping table in V24 model.
If the DOS is 05/01/2023, should i ignore the code because there is no HCC in V24 2023 mapping or should i code from V28 model (effective from Jan 1 2023 PY).

Here confusion is HCC value mapping consideration/effective date to apply to date of service in our coding is from Jan 1 - Dec 31 or Oct - Sep 30.

please help me.
