Hello

Buspirone is listed under on our schedule as Skeletal Muscle Relaxants with a code of 80375 which is the generic code. Shouldn?t this be 80369 or 80370 if it is a Skeletal Muscle Relaxant?

Hydrocodone/Hydromorphone ? since they both fall under 80361 for AMA, should they be one code or 2 separate codes if they are one mobile phase?

Oxycodone is listed on our schedule as 80356 but I believe it should be 80365?

Buspirone is not a skeletal muscle relaxant. The DrugBank includes the following information - "An anxiolytic agent and a serotonin receptor agonist belonging to the azaspirodecanedione class of compounds. Its structure is unrelated to those of the benzodiazepines, but it has an efficacy comparable to diazepam."

You may want to check if the testing is being performed for therapeutic purposes rather than drug testing, particularly if the specimen is blood / blood component. If so, then you may need to consider 80299.

The new 803xx codes for drug testing can only be reported with a maximum of 1 unit of service and a maximum of 1 line item. 2015 CPT coding is no longer based on the number of mobile to stationary phases. The maximum units of service for 80361 is 1 regardless if the results are only hydrocodone or include all those listed under th Definitive drug classes listing.
