My Ortho provider & I are having a difference of opinion re: 28010/28011. He feels that he should bill 28010 for the first tendon and 28011 times however many additional tendons are repaired. I believe 28010 is meant for a single tendon and if there are multiple tendons repaired then you would use 28011 once. Please help settle our differences!

You are correct. In the 28011--it doesnt matter if it is two tendons or fifty, you still only use the code once.

Kudos

One important thing... these codes are not for "repair", they are meant for tendon release or tenotomy procedures. If your provider is reporting them for repair, then they are undercoding and you might want to bring it to their attention.
Have Fun!

Thanks so much for the help...the "repair" term was mine not his. I didn't use the correct term.
