Does anyone currently do this test? The vendor is suggesting codes 82274 and G0328. According to the Coders' Desk Reference for 82274 the samples must be placed in a "sterile leakproof container with a screw-cap lid". The kit they are selling is a stool card kit. However the test itself does not fit 82270 or 82272 because it is an immunoassy test as opposed to the peroxidase test. Is it appropriate to use 82274/G0328 for this kit? Any help would be much appreciated.

We are just getting ready to go to this test also. Our lab has inidicated that the test will be done on raw specimen not cards. I've been confused on this for awhile, so I too, would appreciate any help here.

Check the verbiage in CPT/HCPCS:
82270 is FOBT by peroxidase for screening;
82272 is FOBT by peroxidase other than screening;
82274 is FOBT by immunoassay;
G0328 is FOBT immunoassay for screening

These codes are also discussed in the Medicare Carrier's Manual, Chapter 18, Section 60 in the colorectal screening benefits section.
