Hi Everyone -

I'm a little stumped here, how would I code:

1. MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Group A Streptococcal cellulitis infection of the right elbow.)
2. Right olecranon bursitis
3. Diabetes mellitus 2, uncontrolled
4. MSSA (methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus) colonization
5. Hypertension.

I have 726.33, 041.11, 250.02 and V02.53

Anyone???

Can anyone help me with this:

Hi Everyone -

2. Right olecranon bursitis
3. Diabetes mellitus 2, uncontrolled

If these are indeed in the order of importance for the visit, then I'd code:
1. 682.3 (Cellulitis elbow)
2. 041.12 (MRSA)
3. 041.01 (Group A Strep)
4. 726.33 (olecranon bursitis)

Others would be:
250.02 Uncontrolled Diab. Type 2
041.11 MSSA
401.9 Hypertension

Is the infection (MRSA, strep and MSSA) all in the same site? Then maybe the MSSA should be listed as #4 since they would pertain to #1. Or if one infection is predominate, then you could list one organism as #2, and then diabetes and hypertension as #3 and #4, if they played an important role in the visit also.
