What are the replacement J codes for Methylprednisolone acetate injections for April 2024. I am looking for replacement codes for J1030 & J1040 since they expire on March 31, 2024.

J1030 and J1040 have different NDC numbers. What NDC number should we use for J1010 ? Should we apply NDC for J1030 or J1040 depending on what has been injected?
Please advise
I was just searching for this information myself and I can not find anything. I am going to try and use the NDC code that I would have used for J1030 or J1040. As far as I am aware J2920 and J2930 were also deleted. Is anyone else aware of this?

You will bill the J1010 for all Depo-Medrol injections, it is replacing the J1020, J1030, & J1040. The NDC# on the claim will alert the insurance carrier as to which strength/concentration was used (J1020, J1030, J1040).

The description for J1010 says 1mg. Our office uses a 40mg dosage usually billed with J1030. Using the 1mg J1010 I would change the units to 40 and use the same NDC number I have been using?

My manager says that J1010 would not need the JZ modifier, I dont know about the JW. But I just cant wrap my head around that. As it is based on the NDC number to indicate if it is a single dose vial. I would like to know others thoughts as well. I am going to send some without it and see.

Are you billing multiple units for Medicare as well? Our billers are saying that Medicare doesn't pay for multiple units. We have not had a denial on these (J1010) yet but do for J1071 when we bill 600 units and they pay 1 unit out of the 600 for $.03. Unless we are billing it incorrectly. Thanks!

Yes we are billing multiple units if the J1010. It hasn’t been enough time to see what Medicare will do with ours. Our clinics don’t keep testosterone in house any more but when they used to we never had a problem getting paid for multiple units that I can remember.

Hi! So we have been billing the J1010 this past month with the 40 mg NDC... and then doing 40 units. We have received multiple denials from BCBS only so far stating that the place of service 11 cannot be billed with J1010. Does anyone have any knowledge of why that would be or what source BCBS is using for this decision? Thank you!
