How would you bill for patient that was scheduled in ASC lap chole for cholelithiasis by a general surgeon and since patient was there gyn physician decides to schedule a diagnostic lap (diagnosis after study)for a ruptured paratubal cyst.
Gyn doc finds the problem and hands over to other doc for lap chole.
I know the lap chole is 47562 and the diagnostic lap is 49320 but can the codes be billed together for same op session although two docs do separate laps for different reasons?

Hello,
Can bill diagnostic lap first followed by the surgical one.
When concurrent services are rendered, the doctor who submits his/her claim first is safe.
