It is to my understanding that there SHOULD be a separate patient account created for patients with workers' compensation, but that is not a requirement. (A separate account makes the most sense to me.) However, if a separate account is not created, some EMR systems pull all medical history, including past surgeries, medical conditions, and all medication (unrelated to the injury being assessed) into the notes. And, this is when, among other things, issues with HIPAA arise, correct? How many others create separate accounts for Workers' Comp cases and do you agree that past /current medical history unrelated to the WC claim should not appear in the WC notes, regardless?

Thank you!
