Hi all!
I'm looking for resource material regarding the use of Mod-27. I code for an ED with affiliated Primary and Specialty Care offices and Walk-In's. At some point, someone in my organization advised we could not use Mod-27 with ED E/M's when a patient has an additional outpatient visit that same day OR when a specialist comes down to the ED for a consult and they bill using an ED E/M. Since it's the same DOS, our billing team consolidates the charges onto one bill, with multiple E/M's. We then receive a denial - most often requesting the use of Mod-27.![Confounded face :confounded: 😖](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/7.0/png/unicode/64/1f616.png)
Outside of the CPT book, I have been unable to find any source material specifically regarding Mod-27.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
