When there are two cpt codes (97140 and 97530) and both are in the first column of the ncci edits...which one gets the modifier -59.

If both are in the same column then I would not use it on either charge

97530 is editing against 97140. 59 will go on 97530.

then they are not both in the firsr column only. If they are mutually exclusive or component codes one will be in column 1 and one in column 2. Otherwise there is no edit.
