Good morning,
Can someone tell me the definition of a GW and a GV modifier? Can and it be used on an E/M office visit and for what purpose? I am helping a behavioral health manager with a denial claim. The patient is a hospice patient and it was sent back to her stating, need modifier GW or GV to office visit. The patient is not in global or anything, so I don't know if it has something to do with behavioral health or hospice??? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!:o

use modifier GV for attending physician not hospice

and GW- service unrelated to terminal condition

Sounds to me like the GW is most appropriate unless the behavorial health is the patients terminal condition.
