Wiki multiple xrays for fracture

Please help, pt had xrays in ER and was reduced for radius/ulna fracture. Then followed up two days later w/my doctor. New xrays taken because pt's forearm still displaced. Doctor reduced fracture, took another set of xrays BEFORE casting...then took another set of xrays AFTER casting. Can all of these xrays be billed? If so, how do I do that or where can I find the info.

pre and post op xrays are billable in the office. You will need to put a modifier 76 on the 2nd set of films.

Modifier -77 may also be appropriate--depending upon your circumstances.

Be sure to reflect the appropriate ICD-9 for the post-treatment films to correlate with those taken pre-procedure.
