How would you code "silent aspirations". This is all the doctor gave me. Any suggestions?::confused:
Thanks,

Silent aspiration is defined as foreign material entering the trachea or lungs without an outward sign of coughing or respiratory difficulty by the patient. Silent aspiration is a clinical condition that can be present in patients with dysphagia who have a variety of diagnoses, including stroke, degenerative neurological disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and intracranial trauma. It is common for patients on ventilators to experience silent aspirations. Do you have any additional information? If not, I would recommend 519-8, other disease of respiratory system.
