I have a physician that performed an exercise stress test. After the patient started the treadmill they could not complete it. So she then turned it over to a Lexiscan injection. She feels as though we can bill the 93016 and 93018 twice. I am not sure if we can. If so, what modifier should I use.

Thanks for any help on this.

Hi,

I don't think you can bill 93016 & 93018 twice. You may, if supported in the documentation, add modifier 22 to 93016. The report would need to indicate how much more time and work it took to supervise the test and reason the patient was not able to complete the treadmill and the doctor decided to use Lexiscan injection. You may get a denial but worth a try.

Good luck,
