I have been a CPC for 9 years however I recently started with a Neurosurgery/Spine Center and am interested in attending a beginners workshopr or an online seminar but have not been able to locate any. Do you know of any or can you steer me in the right direction. Any assistance will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

The courses put on by AANS are probably the best ones I have been to. If your doctor will not pay for you to travel, I would see if Karen Zupko and Associates, in particular Kim Pollock, is offering anything online through Karen Zupko. Kim is one of the instructors for the AANS courses and is probably the most knowledgeable person I have come across in Neurosurgery coding. In the mean time, I would pick up the Neurosurgery/Neurology coding companion by Ingenix. I use this daily. It gives you a brief description of the codes, CCI edits, coding tips, diagnosis codes usually associated, etc. Good Luck!
