Hello,
I code at a resident clinic that does qute a bit of OB care. They order an initial sonogram when they have a new OB patient, to verify delivery date.
We have had an ongoing debate as to whether the diagnosis can be be routine pregnancy which is V22.1. Or if there is a more specific diagnosis code that is just to check for dates.
This is mostly for patients that do not have any high risk issues, or problems. They are healthy, young patients just presenting with pregnancy. They usually are not sure of there last menstrual cycle, so sono is used to verify.
Any input would be highy appreciated.
Thank you
