I am still very new at this so here goes (don't laugh):

Is a subacromial decompression included in an open rot cuff repair? I though it did but I am getting conflicting info. Also, if the bursa was grossly thickened and excised on the way in, is that also included in the open repair? And lastly, I have another one that had acromioplasty and decompression both done. Are these coded together?

Please help:-(

IF there is bony work done on the acromion as part of the subacromial decompression, it will justify the -59 modifier. If its strictly soft tissue done for visualization, it is included in the RCR.

hope this helps
