Can any point me to documentation that states that pacemakers can be checked 1x a month if they are 5 years or older.

HI,

The best place to find the guidelines is @ the CMS website; cms.hhs.gov

Under TOP 10 LINKS

click on
  1. Manuals
  2. Paper-Based Manual
  3. publication #6 - coverage issues manual
It will give you the guidelines for testing pacemakers. Also, check with your pacemaker reps and they should also have the guidelines.

Good luck,

Dolores, CCC-CPC
