Pt bad both an US of the pelvis and an US of the appendix (2 separate reports)....should they be billed out as such 76856 (pelvic US) /76857 (appendix US)?????

Well, can't give you a definitive answer, but according to NCCI you can bypass with a 59 modifier. But, I would make sure these are separately identifiable. Not sure if they will pay during the same session since 76856 is complete.

Anyone else with more knowledge of radiology?
 
complete vs limited

76856 -is a complete ultrasound of the pelvis. To apply this code, the uterus, endometrium and bladder should all be included. A limited ultrasound of the appendix is a 76857 with a 59 modifier to bypass the edits.
