INDICATION: ESOPHAGEAL CA

IMPRESSION: Stable left supraclavicular lymphadenopathy. Relatively stable fibrotic changes involving the right lung. No new hypermetabolic abnormalities.

Would you code 150.9 or 785.6

PET scans are usually performed to stage a known malignant neoplasm, or restage the malignancy after a course of treatment.

If the Esophogeal Cancer is a known diagnosis, I would code 150.__, and 785.6 for the Lymphadenopathy.

If there is not a known Esophageal Cancer, I would ask for clarification or research the medical record. If I could not verify the cancer, then I would just code the 785.6.

I hope this helps.
