Hi all,
Could definitely use some help with sudden rejections we're getting from billing secondaries to BCBS for Medicare patients. We always used UB04 forms and got paid, but now
we're getting denial letters with "INVALID BILL TYPE" checked off. We've tried calling BCBS and they have been zero help. Does anyone know what ingredient is missing from
our bowl of pea soup?
Thanks much,
Art

Rejections for invalid bill type are usually due to a mismatch between the provider information on the claim and the provider type that the payer is using to try to process the claim. In other words, I would look at your Tax ID and NPIs on the claim vs. those the BCBS is using to process them. If you can verify that you did not change anything on your claims that would have caused this, then something must have changed on the BCBS side and you'll probably need to get in touch with someone in their provider enrollment or contracting department to work out what has happened and how to go about getting it corrected.

Thank you

Thank you, Thomas, for the input. We'll be checking into that as soon as we can get through to a live body at BCBS!
