How do you code for these injections - injections only or also the centrifuge process? and what insurances will pay for them and how much? Thanks

Thanks. If this is the only procedure done in the office on that day do the insurances pay for the procedure of taking blood and injection. Some one told me they bill 20926 tissue graft- is this correct?

20926 was initially used and I'm not sure which year it was overturned and we were informed to bill the 0232T for the plasma injection and that is a scheduled injection so when the patient comes back we do not bill for the office visit and charge $750 for harvesting/preparation and injection. We are in PA. Hope this helps.

Here is the definition for Category III code 0232T:

“0232T—Injection(s), platelet rich plasma, any site, including image guidance, harvesting and preparation when performed (Do not report 0232T in conjunction with 20550, 20551, 20600-20610, 20926, 76942, 77002, 77012, 77021, 86965.)”

Being a Category II code, it has no Medicare RVUs and is not paid by Medicare. Some commercial carriers pay it, when performed by itself. Those that do pay it, almost always bundle it in with the primary procedure.

Hope this helps!!
