Hi! Just wondering if someone would be kind enough to
help with coding. Doc saw a new Pt referred by PC doctor for an Abscess left leg. My Doc decided to I&D abscess
in the office. Can I also bill for the office consult 99243 with a 25 and the I&D 10060! I do not think so and thought that I could only bill for the minor, just wanted another opinon. Thanks

Chances are that you can bill an office visit (with a 25 modifier) in addition to your procedure since the patient was new to that specialty but documentation must support the separately identifiable E/M. Whether or not it is a consultation code or a new patient visit code depends on the documentation also.

What was the intent of the visit was it to do the I&D, this happens in my practice quite often where pt comes in for an office visit and the doctor decides to perform a procedure. IF the procedure was not "planned" you can bill for both the ov and the procedure using modifier 25.
