CPT® Code 88305

CPT® code 88305 Level IV - Surgical pathology, gross and microscopic examination is for the gross and microscopic examination of a specimen to provide a diagnosis. The pathologist uses this code to describe their work value on this specimen, and your family practice would bill for the procedure used to obtain the specimen. Refer to the pathology coding guidelines in CPT® and check with your payers to verify if they accept this code.

My question is about billing 88305 in a physicians office.
One of our family practice offices collected a specimen and sent it to the hospital lab to be tested. Now 88305 is on our lab bill from the hospital. My question is: If the hospital is billing us for testing, using CPT code 88305, should our family practice office bill the insurance company 88305 globally?
Any help is greatly appreciated, I have to relay the answer back to my supervisor.
Thanks,
