Podiatrist sees patient for wound care visit. Documentation notes direct admit to hospital in regard to wound. Podiatrist can not admit to hospital. Either a hospitalist or primary care must admit for him.

My question is can the podiatrist charge an E/M eventhough patient was admitted on the same day.

In the same scope, if Doc A sees patient but Doc B admits on same day for same condition, can Doc A charge an E/M.

Thanks for the help.

I believe as long as the patient was seen in the podiatrist's office they can bill for the office visit, and the admitting MD or ER can bill for the hospital admit.

Is there anything on the internet regarding this? Please let me know. Thanks.
