I keep going back and forth with this and need someone's input. We had a patient come in today for a follow up visit after having hip surgery. The patient also needs to have Coumadin monitoring done. The provider used the diagnosis codes V58.83 and V58.61 along with the office visit code 99213. Can I keep it this way? In the back of my mind I keep thinking we need a different primary diagnosis code. If so can a follow up visit code (V67.00) be used or a status post V43.64. The patient has Medicare for insurance.
