What E/m Code Could I Use For A Est Pat Coming In For A Pre -op Exam.....could We Possible Use A Consultation Code...since The Patient Is Coming In At The Request Of Another Physician...:)
 
Absolutely - as long as you have the request for pre-op clearance from the surgeon and your doctor sends a report back to the surgeon. Code the appropriate level based on documentation. Your first diagnosis will be V72.81 - V72.84, the second dx should be the reason for the surgery, subsequent dx's would be chronic conditions addressed. Hope that helps. :)
