Hi Everyone!

Is there a CPT2/HCPCS or any code for that matter that identifies when a referral has been made for a diabetic retinal exam? Or any that we can use under the auspices of diabetes management that we can isolate for a referral for this test?

It sounds like you want to internally track when such a referral is made. If so, you can always create your own internal code that does not get billed to insurances. Then you can run a report for that code to determine whatever statistic you are trying to track.
There are CPT II codes to indicate the test was or was not done, but not that you REFERRED the patient for testing. MIPS measure #117 - 2022F, 2024F, 2026F, 3072F are those CPT II codes.
I hope this helps.
