I have a surgery that needs billed out for Tissue expanders being removed from the Breasts and Breast implants placed. According to the 2020 CPT book it says to use the 19342 with a 50 modifier for Bilat, But the new 2022 CPT book says to use 11970 for removal of tissue expander and replacement with breast implant and can also use 19370 in addition if more extensive capsular revision was performed.

So can anyone help me with this are clarify what CPT codes should be reported? Thank you!

CPT 11970 for the removal of tissue expanders w/replacement of perm breast implant. And, per CPT assist from September 2021 FAQ's, you may report 11970 with 19370 if extensive revisions to capsule are made. If extensive capsule & extensive soft tissue work is performed, use 11970 & 19380 instead. Hope that helps!
