I work for an ortho surgeon, who performs total arthroplasties. Most of his cases are elderly patients who often time requires admit to "swing bed" after they have been discharged from "inpatient" status. My question is can I bill for the "swing bed" admit or is it considered global just as the dischage? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Global

In my opinion, if the admission is related to the surgery (and not for any complications or other conditions), this would be considered part of the global package and not separately billable.
