Multiple axial images are through the abdomen and pelvis following the administration of oral and intravenous contrast. What CPT code(s) is/are reported for this service?

a) 74160, 72193
b) 74177
c) 74170, 72194
d) 74174
Ans is B but why ? Administration of Oral contrast means no contrast is use .
I didn't get the whole ans please help anyone.

The question you typed says with oral AND intravenous contrast. So there was IV contrast given, according to the question info you provided.

(BTW - all of the answer choices have codes where contrast is used, so no contrast isn’t even an option in your answer choices.)

If you were looking at process of elimination, A & C can be ruled right off the bat, because those choices list the abdomen & pelvis codes separately instead of the combination code.

D can be ruled out because it’s a CT Angiography code not a CT scan.

Leaving B as the only possible correct answer choice. CT of abdomen and pelvis, with contrast.
