Wiki Removal of a Pacemaker

Hello! I need the ICD 9 code for a removal of a pacemaker. The pt had a heart transplant so the device was no longer needed. Is there a removal only code? I'm not having much luck finding anything excpet remove and replace.

I believe the fitting and adjustment code would be correct for pacemaker removal. V53.31.

I thought so... I think it is odd that there isn't a removal only code. especially when for DNR's pacemakers are removed and not put back in or in cases of heart transplants where they are no longer needed..

You could also add diagnosis V42.1(ICD-9)
