We have a number of patients that receive a retrobulbar block prior to cornea transplant. Our anestisologist bills for this but we're now wondering if we can bill as a facility. There are other blocks that are billable with the procedure performed but this one has me a little confused.

Per CCI it is billable with a 59 modifier. But still not convinced if it is appropriate or not.

If anybody has any insite that would be great. Also, any information regarding this would also be appreciated.

Thanks

hmmm I dont think we can. The other blocks that we do bill for are in combination with general anesthesia. What other forms of anesthesia are being billed by the anesthesiologist?
