I have a question regarding seizures -- Here's a summary of the long documentation I have:

CC: Seizures

ROS: Complete (pt is intubated and sedated)

SH: Smoke and drink
FH: CHF
PMH: COPD, Intractabe complex partial epilepsy and Herpres simplex virus encephalitis

Imp: COPD exacerbation w/ E-Coli in sputum; Status epilepticus; MRSA on nasal swab: Complex partial seizures

I have 491.21; 041.4 and now -- My question is regarding the seizures -- Would I use 345.81 or 345.41?

Based on the info you have provided, I would use 345.41 because it specifically states "Complex Partial Seizures". 345.81 is for "other" and I just don't think it is specific enough. Hope this helps!
