I have the same question, the degree is severe, but it doesn't state major, just severe depression, so do we go with 311?

311 is the vide for depressive disorder which is TRUELY not the same as depression. I would query the provider as to whether the patient has a depressive disorder or is the patient profoundly unhappy, so as to use a code for demoralization and apathy... Or in ICD-10CM unhappiness?
