Original post:

In an ASC setting, patient underwent a phacoemulsification with iol placement and also a thermal therapy for corneal vascularization. Corneal neovascularization was in only one quadrant temporarily on left cornea. I have located the diagnosis code for the neovascularization, but am having difficulty locating the CPT code. I was originally looking at the 65450, but this states destruction of a corneal defect. Do we assume the that the neovascularization of the cornea is a 'defect'?

Thank you very much Sal. I get into quandries sometimes when surgeons state a specific procedure and the diagnosis may or may not work. A co-worker stated that she too would have used this code! Thanks again.:)
