Hi all,

I am sorry if this question has been asked and answered, but I am having trouble finding the answer. I am a new coder, not yet certified. I have a scenario at my new office and was hoping for some help.

I've got a person who received sutures by one of our doctors. They came in a few days later (within the global period) and had the sutures removed by a different doctor. Both doctors are employed by the clinic. In this situation, is S0630 applicable?

Thanks a bunch!

Erin

Hey there,

Thank you so much for your answer! I do have two follow up questions because my new employer and I are unsure of the answer:

1) If our doctor is removing sutures that we placed, for a simple repair, we would charge out for an e/m visit only, right?

2) If our doctor is removing the sutures that a different doctor from a different practice placed (or ER), would we charge e/m or S0630 or both?

Let's say for both 1 and 2, patient is presenting only for removal of sutures... there's nothing else going on.

Thanks!

Erin
