Does anyone know if there is a diagnosis code you can use for a Swallow Study for outpatient coding? or would you just code Dysphagia, unspecified

You would code the diagnosis that is medically necessary for the Swallow Study. Why was the Swallow Study done?

Yes however in a situation where we did a swallow study and there is no reason for treatment. The swallow study was done due to difficulty swallowing but the outcome was not necessary.

Yes, you would code the reason the study was ordered if no definitive diagnosis was made based on the outcome. Per the ICD-10 guidelines: If a definitive diagnosis has not been established by the end of the encounter, it is appropriate to report codes for sign(s) and/or symptom(s) in lieu of a definitive diagnosis.
