If a patient comes in with a severe head injury and gets intubated/sedated because of the severe head injury. Sometimes intubation takes place at the scene of the accident and we don't know length of unconsciousness because we've subsequently sedated/treated them do we code with an unconsciousness of unspecified duration code or use a diagnosis code for however many hours the patient is sedated and unconscious?
