We recently began offering the Thromboelastograph (Teg) at our facility. The following values are resulted:

R: Reaction Time
K: Kinetics
MA: Maximum Amplitude
G: Clot Firmness as shear elastic modulus
Angle
EPL: Estimated percent lysis
LY30: Percentage of lysis 30 minutes after MA

We bill CPT code 85384 x 1 for all of those values. There is a separate charge for the Pathologist interpretation.

Are we supposed to bill more units or additional CPT codes for these values? We bill our platelet mapping studies (% Inhibition ADP & AA) and activated clotting times separately.

Does anyone who offers the TEG have advice in this matter?

Thank you!!
