I have a doctor that is supervising the nuclear tests. There is another doc (not one of mine) that reads the tests. Can I still bill my nuclear test with a 26 modifier for my doc, even though he only supervises the test?
 
Is your doc supervising and writing the final report which is shared with the patient? If that's the case, then mod 26 would be a go for your doc.Is the reading Doc separately contracted to do so? He's not supervising so does not get mod 26.
 
We have this happen occasionally...you have to split bill out the charges.

The physician who interprets the test and provides the report, bill with modifier 26. The supervising physician can bill with TC modifier, if his practice owns the equipment. The interpreting MD cannot bill for use of adenosine, thallium etc this can be billed by the supervising MD.
