I am coming across a lot of UB claims with CPT codes with modifiers on them. Is there something that has changed that requires modifiers on ub's now?

Ub's

I work in a CAH (critical access Hospital) and we are having the same discussion. According to the 2006 manual you are suppose to use certain modifiers EG: GF for non physician Providers GY for statutorialy excludes dx's. I am only the coder and do not know how the claims are paid. We have a lot of OV with PE that are carved out. I am interested in how this conversation will play out.....

Since UB's are for facility charges, I cant think of a reason a modifier would be used.
