I have a patient who had a uni-compartmental knee arthroplasty 6 years ago by another surgeon. Patient came to our office and we removed the uni and did a total knee arthroplasty. Could I get some coding help. My doctor wants to use a 27486 or 27487? Would this be correct. I want to code a removal and then a total knee? any help would be appreciated

27487 for the conversion to a total knee. You can not capture for the removal of the uni because it is a necessary component to complete the conversion.
